Guided Tour: Seminaari Hill University Campus — Seminaarinmäen kampus, Jyväskylä

Jyväskylä University's Seminaari Hill campus is a layered complex where red brick buildings from the 1880s meet the campus architecture designed by Alvar Aalto in the 1950s. Aalto won the area's expansion competition in 1951 with his proposal URBS.

The complex, based on the American campus principle, forms an open arc around the sports field. It contains the main building, library, practice school, dining and residential buildings, gymnasiums and swimming hall - and later the area was completed with a student house and the building for the faculty of sports sciences. The protected campus has been awarded the European Cultural Heritage label, and Aalto's buildings are nominated for UNESCO World Heritage status.

Aalto2 organizes public guided tours on the campus in Finnish and English from 1.6 to 15.8.2026. The tour lasts approximately 90 minutes, after which the area can be explored independently. Participation requires a ticket purchased in advance. The ticket price is 10/20 €.
