Marianne Farrere is the world's richest woman, heiress to a cosmetics empire, for whom money has lost all meaning - and love cannot be bought with it. Everything changes when a pompous fortune-hunter, an almost-photographer named Pierre-Alain (Laurent Lafitte), enters her life. His schemes are as certain as the sunrise.

Their acquaintance blossoms into a platonic romance, and Marianne begins lavishing millions on the photographer - the entertainment is worth it. Her daughter (Marina Foïs) enlists lawyers and a butler to evict the suitor from the heiress's bank account, but to no avail.

The story is inspired by the Liliane Bettencourt scandal. Laurent Lafitte won the César Award for Best Actor for his role, and the lead part seems tailor-made for Isabelle Huppert.
