Behemoth is a Polish blackened death metal band from Gdańsk, formed in 1991 and led by vocalist and guitarist Adam 'Nergal' Darski. Credited with helping shape the Polish extreme metal scene, the trio has released 13 studio albums, with 'The Satanist' (2014) debuting at #34 on the Billboard 200 - a landmark for the genre. Their music fuses the brutality of death metal with black metal atmosphere, backed by elaborate, theatrically provocative live shows.
