Claude Tchamitchian (b. 1960, Paris) is a French double bassist and composer of Armenian descent, widely regarded as one of the key figures in European improvised music. He leads several ensembles - most notably Lousadzak and the In Spirit solo project - and co-founded the creative jazz label Émouvance in 1994, which has released over 40 albums. His music draws on free improvisation, composed structures, and the folk traditions of his Armenian heritage.
