Elwood Francis (born August 23, 1961, Lexington, Kentucky) is an American bassist and guitar technician who joined ZZ Top in 2021 after the death of founding bassist Dusty Hill - at Hill's own explicit request. He had worked as the band's guitar tech for roughly three decades before stepping up to the bass, and is also known for his harmonica playing. Francis gained wider attention in 2022 when he began performing live with a 17-string bass guitar, an instrument he sourced from a Chinese website.
ZZ Top extended 'The Big One!' tour with nearly two dozen new US dates for August-September 2026, with Cheap Trick and George Thorogood & The Destroyers as special guests on select shows.
