Ewan McGregor (born 31 March 1971 in Perth, Scotland) is a Scottish actor and filmmaker whose career spans over three decades and more than 100 film and TV credits. He broke through internationally with Danny Boyle's Trainspotting (1996) and went on to play Obi-Wan Kenobi across the Star Wars prequel trilogy and the 2022 Disney+ series. His television work earned him a Golden Globe for Fargo (2017) and a Primetime Emmy for Halston (2021), and he holds an OBE for services to drama and charity.
McGregor was announced to star alongside Alan Cumming in the world premiere stage adaptation of Supernova at Pitlochry Festival Theatre, running July-August 2027.
McGregor and Nicole Kidman reunited at the 98th Academy Awards ceremony in March 2026.
McGregor received the BAFTA Scotland Outstanding Contribution to Film and Television award at the ceremony in Glasgow on 16 November 2025.
McGregor returned to the London stage after 17 years, starring in My Master Builder at Wyndham's Theatre from April to July 2025.
