Girl Group are a British-Norwegian five-piece based in Liverpool, formed at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts by four Norwegians - Katya Birkeland, Thea Gundersen, Mia Halvorsen and Maria Tollisen - and Yorkshire-born Lily Christlow. The band grew out of frustration at being sidelined in male-dominated studio spaces, and they write, produce and creatively direct everything themselves. Their debut EP Think They're Looking, Let's Perform (2025, Boys Boys Boys/Polydor) and follow-up Little Sticky Pictures (2026) blend post-punk structures with dance-floor pop and sharp feminist commentary.
Girl Group announced an autumn 2026 European and UK headline tour, including a Helsinki date on 7 October at Aaniwalli Room 2.
Girl Group released their second EP Little Sticky Pictures (7 tracks) via Boys Boys Boys/Polydor, also issued as a double A-side vinyl with their debut EP.
Rough Trade featured Girl Group in their On The Rise series, highlighting the band's feminist DIY approach and Liverpool roots.
Girl Group released the pop-punk track Rage Song in September 2025.
Debut EP Think They're Looking, Let's Perform was released on 20 June 2025 via Boys Boys Boys, a new Polydor imprint; lead single Yay! Saturday received praise from Elton John and won BBC Radio 6's Roundtable.
