How to Build a Library (2025) is a documentary by Christopher King and Maia Lekow, filmed over eight years, following writer Shiro Koinange and publisher Angela Wachuka as they work to transform Nairobi's The MacMillan Memorial Library. Founded in 1931 and originally designed for white visitors only, the library becomes a lens for examining what decolonisation actually means in practice - from cataloguing systems to institutional mindsets.
