Jacob Karlzon (born 1970 in Jönköping, Sweden) is a pianist, composer and bandleader based in Malmö, whose playing spans post-bop jazz, electronic textures, folk and metal - a blend he calls 'technorganic'. He has released over a dozen albums under his own name and is a long-standing musical partner of vocalist Viktoria Tolstoy. In 2010 he won the Swedish Django d'Or and was voted Jazz Musician of the Year; since 2012 he has been a Steinway Artist.
Karlzon and Viktoria Tolstoy released their duo album 'Who We Are' on ACT Music on 30 January 2026, their first duo recording together since 2013.
Karlzon's new quartet project QUESTAR - featuring trumpet, bass and drums alongside his piano and electronics - is touring Europe in 2026 after an initial run through Germany and Czech Republic.
The Viktoria Tolstoy & Jacob Karlzon 'Who We Are' live tour includes dates in Gothenburg, Essen, Minden, Odense and Herdecke across 2026.
Karlzon released 'Winter Stories', a solo piano album, on Warner Music in 2024.
