Lea Thompson (born 1961, Rochester, Minnesota) is an American actress, director, singer and dancer whose career spans over four decades. She is best known for playing Lorraine Baines-McFly in the Back to the Future trilogy (1985-1990) and the title role in the sitcom Caroline in the City (1995-1999). In recent years she has built a parallel career as a TV director, with credits including Resident Alien, Will Trent and The Chicken Sisters.
