Mary Louise "Meryl" Streep (born June 22, 1949, Summit, New Jersey) is an American actress whose career spans over five decades and more than 64 films. She holds the all-time record for Academy Award nominations with 21 - winning three times, for Kramer vs. Kramer, Sophie's Choice and The Iron Lady - and has earned more Golden Globe nominations than any other performer in history. Trained at Vassar College and the Yale School of Drama, she is widely regarded as the defining screen actress of her generation, known for her technical precision and mastery of accents and dialects.
