About

Nektar is an English progressive rock band formed in Hamburg in 1969 by guitarist Roye Albrighton, keyboardist Allan "Taff" Freeman, bassist Derek "Mo" Moore, and drummer Ron Howden. Known for sprawling concept albums and an elaborate live light show, they reached their commercial peak with Remember the Future (1973), which hit #19 on the Billboard 200. The band has continued releasing music into the 2020s despite significant lineup changes, including the deaths of Albrighton (2016) and Howden (2023).

Nektar released Mission to Mars on 30 August 2024 via Deko Entertainment, the first part of a planned trilogy and the band's first studio album without founding drummer Ron Howden.

Nektar released a 50th Anniversary Edition of Remember the Future in 2023.

The 1975 album Recycled charted at #16 on the UK Progressive Albums chart in 2024, reflecting renewed interest in the band's classic catalogue.

Nektar toured the US Northeast and Midwest in summer 2024, with additional dates planned for Europe.
