Notkea Rotta is a Helsinki rap group that built a cult following from the early 2000s by spinning a largely fictional saga of east-side street life - parodying American gangsta rap through the lens of Itä-Helsinki. The group raps exclusively in Finnish, heavy with Helsinki slang, and released six studio albums between 2001 and 2012 on Monsp Records. They received the Eastern Helsinki Prize in 2012 and remain one of the most recognisable names in Finnish hip hop history.
Notkea Rotta Allstars performed at the free Kontufestarit festival in Kontula on 23 August 2025, alongside guests Steen1, Tuomio and Maukka Perusjätkä.
The original Notkea Rotta lineup played a support gig for the Kontufestari fundraiser at Hard Rock House in Helsinki's Roihuvuori district in July 2025.
A planned Kontufestari event headlined by Notkea Rotta was cancelled in May 2025 after the City of Helsinki unexpectedly withdrew its funding.
Notkea Rotta Allstars played Tavastia in Helsinki on 28 December 2024, their first appearance at the venue in over ten years.
Ahead of the Tavastia show, the band announced it was releasing new music to be premiered alongside classic tracks at the concert.
