About

Popeda is a Finnish rock band from Tampere, founded in November 1977 by Pauli "Pate" Mustajärvi and Ilari "Ilpo" Ainiala - one of the cornerstones of the Manserock movement alongside Eppu Normaali and Juice Leskinen. Over nearly five decades the band released around 20 studio albums and played close to 4,000 concerts, earning a state Suomi-palkinto award in 2014. Mustajärvi, the last original member, left in 2023 and passed away on 26 December 2025; the band continues under guitarist Costello Hautamäki with vocalist Olli Herman.
