Rachel Hair & Ron Jappy are a Glasgow-based Scottish duo pairing the clarsach (Celtic harp) with acoustic guitar - the oldest and newest instruments in the Scottish traditional music arsenal. Rachel Hair, originally from Ullapool in the Highlands, is widely regarded as one of the world's leading exponents of Scottish harp; Ron Jappy, from the fishing village of Findochty, is a Royal Conservatoire-trained guitarist and fiddle player who has toured with Skerryvore and Jamie Smith's Mabon. The duo formed in September 2017 and has since released two critically acclaimed albums - SPARKS (2019) and Élan (2023) - touring across Europe, North America and Australia.
Rachel Hair & Ron Jappy performed at the Yn Chruinnaght Celtic Gathering on the Isle of Man in July 2025.
The duo undertook a US West Coast tour in May 2024, performing concerts and teaching workshops in California, Oregon and Washington, supported by Creative Scotland.
Rachel Hair was nominated for Music Tutor of the Year at the 2023 MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards.
The duo released their second album together, Élan, on 19 May 2023, recorded at Oak Ridge Studios in Glasgow and funded by Creative Scotland.
