Robert Jan Stips (born 4 February 1950, The Hague) is a Dutch keyboardist, composer, producer and singer whose career spans more than five decades of Dutch pop history. He co-founded the progressive rock band Supersister in the late 1960s, later played with Golden Earring, and has been the keyboard anchor of Nits since 1981 - contributing to the band's signature blend of art pop and orchestral ambition, including the symphonic work Hjuvi: A Rhapsody in Time (1992).
Supersister released the live album T3iO on 3 April 2026 and followed it with a five-date Dutch club tour in April-May 2026.
Stips launched the duo project StipsGoulding with singer Jane Goulding, releasing the debut album Love & Affection and announcing a Dutch club tour for autumn 2025.
Supersister released the studio album Nancy Never Knew in 2025 and toured Dutch clubs in support of it.
StipsGoulding released the debut single 'Love Is All You Need' in December 2024.
Nits celebrated their 50th anniversary with a European tour visiting Paris, Zurich, Berlin, Helsinki, Tampere, Brussels, Antwerp and Amsterdam.
