About
The Halo Effect is a Swedish melodic death metal band formed in Gothenburg in 2019 by five former In Flames members: vocalist Mikael Stanne (also of Dark Tranquillity), guitarists Jesper Strömblad and Niclas Engelin, bassist Peter Iwers, and drummer Daniel Svensson. Their debut album Days of the Lost (2022) became the first debut album by a metal band to reach number one on the Swedish charts, and their second album March of the Unheard followed in January 2025 on Nuclear Blast. The band's sound is a deliberate return to the 1990s Gothenburg melodic death metal style that Strömblad and others helped pioneer.
