The Obsessed is an American doom metal band from Potomac, Maryland, founded in 1978 by guitarist and vocalist Scott "Wino" Weinrich. Widely credited as one of the earliest bands to shape what became doom metal and stoner rock, they built their reputation in the Baltimore/Washington D.C. underground before Weinrich went on to front Saint Vitus on the landmark album Born Too Late (1986). The band has broken up and reformed several times; since their 2016 reunion they have released Sacred (2017) and Gilded Sorrow (2024), and continue to tour internationally.
The Obsessed signed a worldwide deal with Heavy Psych Sounds Records for their next studio album, due in 2027.
The band entered Waterford Digital Studio in Pasadena, Maryland with producer Frank Marchand to record the new album titled Live Fast - Love Hard - Die Free.
Monster Magnet drummer Bob Pantella joined The Obsessed as their new drummer, replacing Brian Costantino.
The Obsessed released Gilded Sorrow on Ripple Music, their first studio album in seven years.
