Sketchbook & Drawing - Workshops

In these workshops, participants draw on Suomenlinna while focusing on observation and their own creative process. Different tools and styles are explored freely - what matters is not the final result but the act of creation and the insights gained along the way.

The emphasis is on open sketchbook work, where the image doesn't need to be predetermined. Uncertainty is welcome, failure doesn't exist, and you can always start over. Three of the four mornings begin with a short theory session, followed by drawing.

The workshops are led by illustrator and visual artist Ulrika Ylioja. They suit all skill levels and are conducted in Finnish. Group size is maximum 10 people, and participants must be adults (K-18).

Dates: 2-5 June 2026 and 18-21 August 2026, 10:00-16:00 (including 30-minute lunch break). Price 309/329 €, includes instruction. Bring a sketchbook, drawing materials, food, and weather-appropriate clothing.
