Larufest: Music in Theatre - Theatre in Music

At this free event of the Lautasaari Music Festival, composer Markus Fagerudd and director Laura Jäntti discuss the relationship between music and theatre. The interviewer is Seppo Kimanen. The programme features Markus Fagerudd's Arco Naturale, performed by the Larufest Quartet, and InstruMental III, performed by violinist Rebecca Roozeman and cellist Pekka Smolander.
Markus Fagerudd is a versatile composer and arranger. His extensive output ranges from opera and film and theatre music to contemporary art music. He is particularly known for his stage works, among which the children's operas Heinähattu, Vilttitossu ja suuri pamaus, Gaia and Seitsemän koiraveljestä are especially popular. Laura Jäntti is a theatre director known for creating artistically uncompromising productions in both small theatres and major city theatres. Jäntti is internationally recognised and her work has been seen in Germany, Norway, Peru and Tanzania. She is regarded as a pioneer of Finnish theatre export.
