Description was written before the event

"My Name Was Nikolai" is a novel that follows two young people - a Tver-born Karelian named Nikolai and an American woman named Lillian - from the 1930s through World War II. The work explores the tension between idealism and reality, propaganda, and the individual's yearning for freedom and creativity. The book is partly based on true events.

At the book launch, author Kirsi Sihvo is interviewed by Terhi Lavonen, and readings are performed by Suvi Eriksson and Markku Korhonen. Afterwards, the audience has the opportunity to ask questions of the author.

Books can be purchased at the event directly from the author, with or without a dedication. Payment is accepted in cash or via MobilePay.
