Architecture Walk in Kannelmäki — Helsingin kaupunginmuseo, Helsinki

Join a guided tour of Kannelmäki's architecture and urban landscape led by exhibition curators Laura Berger and Panu Savolainen from the "Unknown Suburb" exhibition.

Kannelmäki is one of Helsinki's first northern suburbs. It is an excellent example of suburban development showcasing different trends in urban planning and residential architecture from the 1950s through the 1990s. The walk explores Kannelmäki's oldest section, built in the early 1950s and 1960s, and its renowned church, a striking example of concrete brutalism. The route continues through later phases of Kannelmäki development from the 1970s onward, with a stop at Kanneltalo, one of Helsinki's finest examples of postmodern architecture.

This event is part of the "Unknown Suburb" exhibition programme and entry is free. No advance registration required. Everyone welcome!

Walk starts: in front of Kannelmäki Church, Vanhaistentie 6

Guides: Researcher Laura Berger and Professor of Architectural History Panu Savolainen
