Diary Club
Kulttuuritehdas Korjaamo, Helsinki
ilmainen
Everyone was awkward as a teenager. The most awkward among us can never forget that awkwardness, because they kept a diary and didn't realize they should destroy it before it gained emotional value.
At Diary Club, these now-adult self-aware people share their embarrassing diary entries with the audience. Notes about first love, parents, and teenage anxiety are not only moving and tragic but also incredibly funny when read aloud by the person who wrote them years ago.
Diary Club is awkwardness, laughter, and above all, recognizable feelings from that time when you thought you were completely alone with your thoughts - but everyone was there. The club features not just diary entries but also love letters and school assignments. The more embarrassing, the better. Recognition and a sense of belonging have reached their peak at these clubs, building to a kind of collective euphoria.
The first Diary Club was held at Kulttuuritehdas Korjaamo in Helsinki in December 2014 for a sold-out audience, and since then diaries have been read there regularly.
The club is run by two comedians: Risto Koo Järvinen, who has (unfortunately) kept a diary his entire life, and Eeva Vekki, who feels embarrassed every time she takes the stage with her own diaries.
Want to join Diary Club? Do you have teenage diaries, school assignments, poems, or other writings saved? Are they truly embarrassing or even shameful? Wonderful! Come and read them at Diary Club in front of the audience. We guarantee the experience will be amazing. Get in touch as soon as possible: paivakirjaklubi@gmail.com
