Mystery Book Club Autumn Season 2026

The mystery book club meets at Ison Omenan library ten times during the autumn season 2026. At the meetings, participants freely discuss their chosen and read detective novels.

Anu Patrakka: The Admirer, 2025 (271 p.) - The third part of the Detective Nelson Monteiro series, set in Lisbon's fado restaurants. The crimes span the period of the Carnation Revolution.

Barbara Nadel: Arabesque, 2011 (335 p.) - Mehmet Suleyman investigates the murder of an arabesque singer's wife. Nadel portrays Turkish society and its layered culture.

Johan Theorin: The Hour of the Dusk, 2008 (429 p.) - The author's debut novel, set on the island of Öland in Sweden. Over 80-year-old retired sea captain Gerlof Davidson resumes his search for his grandson after a 20-year break, together with the boy's mother Julia, when a new lead emerges.

Peter James: The Face of the Dead Man, 2025 (416 p. + maps) - Detective Roy Grace investigates whether a dead man could be the killer. James' books are fast-paced and full of unexpected twists, with accurate depictions of modern police work.

Fred Vargas: The Shadow Treaders, 2025 (478 p.) - Commissaire Adamsberg investigations, part 10. Adamsberg investigates crimes in a Breton village in France. Author Vargas is also an archaeologist and historian.

Laura Andersson: Death in Kulosalmi, 2022 (415 p.) - The first part of the Private Detective Lili Loimola series. Set in post-war Helsinki in the 1940s.
