Crime in Espoo - Crime Fiction Event

At the "Crime in Espoo" event on Wednesday 16.9.2026 from 18:00 to 19:30, participants will build the plot of a crime novel together with guest crime fiction authors. The plot is woven by Hanne Dahl and Heikki Valkama. The event takes place at Tapiola Library.

Hanne Dahl (Anne Syrjä) is a retired pharmaceutical industry professional who has settled in Espoo and writes crime fiction. Her Hauho series comprises eleven standalone crime novels set in the Hauho area - the same location as the author's family's summer cottage. The series' latest installment, The Weight of Silence, was published in spring 2026.

Heikki Valkama is a thriller author, journalist, and expert on Japanese culture who has written both fiction and non-fiction on the subject. His debut crime novel Pallokala (2017), featuring celebrity chef Riku Mäki, was awarded the Finnish Crime Writers' Association's Debut Crime Novel of the Year honour and the Bok à la Carte prize. The series' sixth instalment, The Emperor's Shadow, was published in winter. Valkama works as a journalist for YLE.
