Iittala Music Festival 2026 — Iittalan Yhtenäiskoulu, Iittala

Iittala Music Festival 2026 presents three thematic concerts: youth, inspiration and love.

FRIDAY 12.6. AT 18:00 - YOUTH
The concert features works by young talented musicians alongside youth compositions by classical composers and memories from older musicians' early days when they founded their trios. The programme includes works by Tuomas Nikkanen (Trio in F minor, 1997, I movement Allegro moderato e mesto), Ludwig van Beethoven (Trio No. 1 op.1 No.1 in E-flat major) and Franz Schubert (Trio No. 2 op. 100 in E-flat major). Performers: Trio Con Fuoco (Lilja Iisakkila, Martta Pölönen, Leevi Pelli), Trio La Rue (Susanna Arminen, Virva Garam, Markus Pelli) and Tuomas Nikkanen.

SATURDAY 13.6. AT 15:00 - INSPIRATION
The concert presents music inspired by folk music, Karelian culture, combinations of compositions and themes, love and the broad spectrum of human emotions. The programme includes works by Tuomas Nikkanen (excerpts from the song cycle Humanity), Johannes Brahms (Hungarian Dance No. 5), Zoltán Kodály (Sonata for Cello and Piano op. 4) and Béla Bartók (Rhapsody No. 1), as well as Finnish folk music arranged by Duo M&V (Laps oon köyhän Karjalan, Myrskis-potpourri). Performers: Anna-Kristiina Kaappola soprano, Tuomas Nikkanen & Virva Garam piano, Mervi Myllyoja violin and Olli Varonen cello.

SUNDAY 14.6. AT 17:00 - LOVE
The closing concert is filled with love in its many forms - its intoxicating, tender and delightful aspects, but also its painful and difficult sides. The concert features works by Alexander Scriabin (Romance for French Horn and Piano), Clara Wieck-Schumann (songs) and Tuomas Nikkanen.
