Are - "In Memoriam" Album Release Show

Rapper Are from Jyväskylä has just released his fifth solo album, In Memoriam. The album will be celebrated at Telakka in Tampere on June 12th!

Are's album explores themes of memory, letting go, and the passage of time, without becoming trapped in nostalgia. In Memoriam is a tribute to traditional rap, its sonic world and attitude. The soundscape combines Are's characteristic rawness with the precision of modern production.

"The aim was to capture something of the fundamental tragicomedy of life and the innocent aesthetic of clumsiness that strongly appeals to me in old rap," Are explains.

"But I didn't want to make anything retro-pastiche; rather, I wanted to blend these elements so the result would sound - if not fresh, then at least contemporary. I hope the album's lyrics awaken both joy and melancholy in the listener, perhaps even sadness. These feelings are, at least for me, simultaneously present when I think about the past," the artist continues.
