Anssi Tikanmäki Orchestra: Landscapes and Films from Finland

The Anssi Tikanmäki in Memoriam ensemble performs Anssi Tikanmäki's beloved music at G Livelab in June. Anssi Tikanmäki (1955-2024) released the album Landscapes and Films from Finland in 1981 - the first and only Finnish light music instrumental album whose sales officially exceeded gold status (25,000 copies). The album includes tracks such as Morning on the Plains, Lapland Mountains, and Kiutaköngäs.

In G Livelab's concert programme for the Anssi Tikanmäki Orchestra, the legendary Landscapes and Films from Finland tracks are performed alongside newer music on the same theme, as well as music composed by Tikanmäki for films directed by Mika and Aki Kaurismäki. The orchestra performs themes as live arrangements from films including The Worthless, The Clan, Juha, and A Man Seeking Escort Services. The concert is enhanced by background projections of landscapes in the orchestra's signature style and film "trailers".
