Anssi Tikanmäki Orchestra: Landscapes and Films from Finland

The Anssi Tikanmäki In Memoriam ensemble performs music by Anssi Tikanmäki (1955-2024) at G Livelab in Tampere in June. The album Landscapes from Finland, released in 1981, is the first and only Finnish instrumental light-music album whose sales have officially exceeded gold status (25,000 copies). The album features well-known tracks including Morning on the Plains, Lapland Mountains, and Kiutaköngäs.

The concert programme features the legendary Landscapes from Finland tracks alongside newer music on the same theme and compositions by Tikanmäki for films by Mika and Aki Kaurismäki. The orchestra performs live arrangements from films including The Worthless, The Clan, Juha, and Melancholic Escort Seeking. The concert is enhanced by background projections of landscapes and film trailers.

Ensemble: Eljas Tikanmäki - keyboards, Eemil Tikanmäki - guitar and violin, Masa Orpana - saxophones, Juuso Nordlund - bass, Tomi Hyttinen - drums.
