Hydroelectric Power Plants: Pyhäkoski

Pyhäkoski is an experimental opera for saxophone quartet and electronics. This site-specific performance unfolds as a walking tour in which you descend to the river bottom and rise again to the surface - from the roar of the rapids and the sounds of the power plant emerges music that becomes a narrative thread. Creature-like figures, glowing in the darkness, have made their home on the river bed and sing with their saxophones. The work is dedicated to the river and the life surrounding it, drawing inspiration from the river's multifaceted history.

The performance is presented as part of Fortum's power plant tour. The tour lasts 1.5 hours, and since the performance takes place in an operating power plant, the group travels together with two guides. Tickets are sold in limited quantities, a maximum of 20 per performance. Participants must be at least 12 years old, and the tour is not suitable for pacemaker users.

The tour is not accessible: the route involves considerable walking and many stairs, so it is not suitable for wheelchair users, walkers, or other mobility aids. Toilet facilities are also limited and not accessible. More detailed audience guidelines are available on the performance's website.
