Fuksisuunnistus 2026 // Newcomers' Orienteering 2026 — Tampereen keskusta // Tampere city center area, Tampere

Welcome to TREY's Newcomers' Orienteering 2026! 🏁

Approximately 1,500 Tampere students navigate checkpoint stations across Tampere city center on Tuesday, September 1, 2026. Teams start from Keskustori and collect points at checkpoints run by student organizations within the student union. The teams with the highest scores are rewarded at the closing party at Tavara-asema (Ratapihankatu 33). 🏆

Fuksisuunnistus is open to all first-year students at the University of Tampere, including master's students and exchange students. The orienteering course is free for participants, but a small mandatory entrance fee is charged at the afterparty.

Registration and schedule

Registration opens on Monday, August 17 at 12:00 and closes on Sunday, August 23 at 23:59 or when places run out. Registration takes place through the Fuksisuunnistus event on kide.app, and access to the afterparty is automatically included with the orienteering ticket. Detailed instructions will be sent to participants before the event.

You can register as a ready-made team or individually through the "New Friends" group, where teams are formed during the event. When registering as a team, one member registers the entire team (3-5 people), and the team must have a name. Start times are staggered between 15:00-17:00 at fifteen-minute intervals - you can request a preferred start time during registration, but due to the event's scale, requests cannot always be guaranteed. The course takes approximately three hours from start, and checkpoints close at 20:00.

Two artists will perform at the afterparty this year. More information about the afterparty will be published in August before orientation week.

Accessibility and safety

The orienteering course can be completed accessibly - please inform us of your needs during registration. At Tavara-asema, the entrance, cloakroom, and all first-floor spaces are accessible; more information about accessibility and equality practices can be found on Tavara-asema's own website.

The event follows TREY's safety principles.
