Why Rats? - Wednesday Club

The long coexistence of rats and humans is no accident, but a consequence of the species' ability to inhabit the environments we have modified. When we observe the rat as city dwellers, we simultaneously shape our understanding of the city as its habitat.

The lecture explores rat success both globally and in contemporary Helsinki. Research findings are presented on how rats move through urban environments and why their numbers vary across different areas - and what this resilient neighbour's behaviour reveals about ourselves.
