Niko Kylmälä: Fragments of Observation
ilmainen
Niko Kylmälä is a Helsinki-based visual artist and graphic designer whose practice combines diverse techniques and materials. His works blend graphic systematicity with abstract irregularity - variations in surfaces, forms, and color combinations that emerge from continuous observation of the environment. Everyday observations are captured in photographs that serve as inspiration and visual starting points for his pieces.
In Kylmälä's characteristic intuitive, collage-like approach, these observations gradually transform into works positioned between abstraction and representation, with their final form built up in stages. The source of inspiration can be almost anything: fabric texture, the shape of wood, found objects, wear and tear, rust, unusual arrangements, or traces left by time and human activity in the surroundings.
Fragments of Observation is Kylmälä's second solo exhibition, continuing and deepening the themes of his first exhibition of the same name - creative observation and exploration of the environment through artistic practice.
