Marianne Farrere is the world's richest woman, a wealthy heiress to a cosmetics empire. Money does not bring love - but into her nest of wealth flies an arrogant careerist, an almost-photographer named Pierre-Alain (Laurent Lafitte), whose schemes are of a familiar kind.

Their acquaintance blossoms into a platonic romance, and Marianne begins giving the photographer millions. Her daughter (Marina Foïs) attempts, with the help of lawyers and a butler, to evict the suitor from the heiress's bank account - to no avail. The story is based on the scandal surrounding Liliane Bettencourt. Laurent Lafitte was awarded the César Prize for Best Actor for his role, and the lead is played by Isabelle Huppert.
