Helsinki Design Week: Encounters in Neighbourhoods
Helsingin kaupunginmuseo, Helsinki
ilmainen
Northern Europe's largest design festival, Helsinki Design Week, expands into the City Museum of Helsinki this autumn. The programme features a discussion panel on the significance of neighbourhoods.
Curators Laura Berger and Panu Savolainen of the exhibition "Unknown Neighbourhood" discuss with Vilho Räsänen, who has lived in several neighbourhoods, and Anna-Lisa Korhonen, an activist from Pihlajisto, about differences between generations and cultures, how neighbourhoods have changed over time, and why they take pride in their residential areas. The speakers also address encounters that emerge in neighbourhoods and the building of community.
The event is part of the Helsinki Design Week and "Unknown Neighbourhood" exhibition programme. Admission is free.
