Benjamin Britten's Operas

Benjamin Britten (1913-1976) was one of the 20th century's most significant opera composers, who renewed English opera by combining modern expression with powerful drama.

The lecture series explores his central works and how Britten addresses themes important to him: outsiderdom, guilt, and the individual's relationship to society. No previous musical training is required.
