"You Just Don't Get It, Do You?" - The Enigma of Authoritarian Power

Professor William Mazzarella from the University of Chicago lectures on the enigma of authoritarian power on Thursday, 27 August 2026, from 18:00 to 19:30 at Töölö Library. The event is open to the public.

In his lecture, Mazzarella reflects on how authoritarianism and the incomprehensible reality surrounding it can be understood at all. He approaches the topic from an anthropological perspective and applies psychoanalytic theory in his research. The lecture is held in English, but questions and discussion can also take place in Finnish or Swedish.
