Author Visit: Eila Kilpinen

Eila Kilpinen, a retired teacher and family caregiver from Vuosaari, presents her novel The Dream Fisher, published in summer 2025.

The novel follows Anneli, whose husband suffers a stroke and loses his ability to speak, read, and write. To navigate her transformed life, Anneli walks the paths of memory from the Bay of Bothnia through Alaska to the lake region of Finland, where the family builds a summer cottage. Along the way, readers encounter vivid characters: a hermit from the Bay of Bothnia, the Emperor of Pöllå, Alaskan Native peoples and Inuit, the merchant Aarne, and the "five weeping men" of Lake Suontee.
