Film Night at Aurinkolahti Beach
Aurinkolahden uimaranta, Helsinki
ilmainen
Ubuntu Film Club presents a film night at Aurinkolahti Beach. The evening opens with DJ Abs's set - you can dance on the sand. After about two hours, the screen lights up.
The film for the evening is Ted Demme's rogue comedy LIFE (USA 1999, 1 h 49 min, S, spoken language English, subtitles in English). In 1932, two lifers, Ray (Eddie Murphy) and Claude (Martin Lawrence), are sent to the same forced labour camp in Mississippi - for crimes they did not commit. The film begins in 1999, when an old man starts telling a gravedigger how the pair ended up there. Rick Baker received an Oscar nomination for the film's makeup, and the ending culminates in a blooper reel that features what may be Murphy's finest moment ever.
Programme:
20:00: DJ ABS
Around 21:30: Film LIFE
The event takes place at the eastern end of Aurinkolahti Beach, Urheilukalastajankuja 1 (on the sand in front of Café Biits). It is recommended to arrive by public transport, bicycle, or on foot. Free admission.
