Short Course for Kitchen and Cleaning Staff

Helsinki Employment Services and Stadin AO are organizing a three-week short course for job seekers interested in kitchen and cleaning work. The course aims to lead to employment through Seuren in multi-functional worker positions.

After the course, you will be equipped to work in assistant kitchen roles in schools and daycare centres, and you will master the basics of maintenance cleaning. The course suits both beginners interested in the field and those with existing experience in food service or cleaning.

Who is it for? The course is intended for unemployed job seekers registered with Helsinki Employment Services who have appropriate health, sufficient physical fitness, and communication skills for these roles. Finnish language proficiency must be at least A2.2. Selected participants must provide a health certificate (known as a salmonella certificate) before the course begins.

Course content covers service kitchen work (self-monitoring, food receipt and storage, breakfast and snack preparation, food reheating and distribution, special diets and allergens, dishwashing, customer interaction) and maintenance cleaning (hygiene and cleanliness requirements for premises and surfaces, surface materials and dirt types, cleaning methods, products, tools and equipment, safety). If needed, a hygiene certificate is also obtained. The course is delivered as daytime training combining classroom instruction and guided distance learning.

Recruitment event takes place on 21.9.2026 at 10:00 at Malminkatu 34, 2nd floor, Helsinki (Kamppi). Be prepared to stay until 14:00. The employer will interview candidates at the event and select course participants.

The course runs 28.9.-16.10.2026 from 9:00 to 14:00 at Stadin AO premises at Prinsessantie 2, Helsinki (Roihuvuori) and Holkkitie 5, Helsinki (Roihupelto).
