Author Talk with Vesa Linna: True Stories from the Baltic Sea's War History

Non-fiction author and photographer Vesa Linna presents his new work The Baltic Sea 1916-1945 - The Battle for Högland and Other True Stories of War. Linna has previously written about the history of Helsinki and Suomenlinna, music, and nature.

The book consists of true stories whose main characters were themselves involved in the events. Captain Salminen diverted bombers heading to Helsinki along the shores of Voxören. Lieutenant Fred Luther defended Bengtskar lighthouse against overwhelming attackers. Singer Georg Malmstén went to film a musical in a submarine and ended up in the middle of Finland's largest espionage scandal. The stories are based on thorough research and reveal the historical context of events and the life paths of the people involved.
