Kino Maunula: Northern Passion

Kino Maunula's autumn programme features Finnish documentary films screened in the Metsäpurosali hall, with directors present at the screenings.

Tonight's film is Northern Passion (2026, Finland, 97 min, 12+). A northern potato-farming couple navigates new relationship dynamics as different sexual orientations and desires test the boundaries of love. Fifty-year-old Petri, confronting his bisexuality, learns to be true to himself and honest with his partner. For Anu, Petri's wish to pursue his own passion raises questions about her own desires and needs in the relationship. Beneath the empty northern landscapes lies a world of men that has been kept hidden from partners, the surrounding community, and partly from themselves. Director and screenwriter: Markku Heikkinen.
