CONTEMPORARY MYTH

The "Zelenaya lampa" book club begins the autumn season 2026 with a theme running through the entire programme: how 20th and 21st century literature creates its own myths rather than simply borrowing ancient stories. The modern myth does not explain the world - it seeks ways to live in a world that has ceased to be comprehensible, and offers no final answers.

Autumn meetings explore central 20th-century novels in which mythic elements emerge in different ways. Some works are widely known, others less so.
