Humphrey Mubba | Trio Mandeng - Global Club Nights — Kanneltalo, Helsinki

Global Club Nights is a club series where people who work with and love music gather to celebrate music together. Kanneltalo hosts two club evenings in autumn 2026: the first on 2.10. and the second on 20.11., which is Children's Rights Day.

The evenings are free and start early, so children are welcome with an adult. In addition to music, there is other programming suitable for children.

Humphrey Mubba is a Tanzanian jazz bassist, composer, and teacher living in Finland. He grew up in the Kilimanjaro region in a multicultural family, and in his music Tanzanian and African rhythms blend with jazz improvisation. He has been influenced by, among others, Richard Bonani, Etienne Mbappé, and Hugh Masaselah, and has performed internationally at festivals including Sauti za Busara and BC International Jazz Festival. His debut album Time is available on all major streaming platforms.

Trio Mandeng plays classical West African Mande music tradition, whose roots extend to blues, jazz, and Latin. The melodies of the kora harp and balafon are rhythmized by acoustic percussion. The trio, consisting of musicians from Mali, Burkina Faso, Guinea, and Finland, are internationally recognized virtuosos of their genre. The lyrics are sung in several West African languages, sometimes with a Finnish touch.

The Global Club Nights evenings are produced by Kanneltalo Cultural Centre in collaboration with the Sibelius Academy's Global Music programme and the World Music Centre. The series aims to create a safe, inclusive, and creative environment and build bridges between music lovers and their communities.
