Jaska Lukkarinen & Turku Jazz Orchestra: Rainbow Blue

Drummer Jaska Lukkarinen and the Turku Jazz Orchestra perform at Sigyn-sali on Friday, 18 September. The concert centers on the role of drums in big band accompaniment: Lukkarinen explores how the drum kit can function as an active part of the orchestra's sound and dialogue, rather than merely providing rhythmic foundation. Conductor Mikko Hassinen has composed the program, which blends swinging and colorful jazz. This is one of three Finnish concerts for Lukkarinen in September - he also performs in Tampere and Helsinki earlier in the month. Admission starts at 35 euros.
