Silmien Takana: Tinyhawk & Bizzarro - Authenticity

Teosto award-winning Tinyhawk & Bizzarro perform and give an interview at G Livelab's Silmien Takana club night on 25 September. The evening's theme is authenticity. The band won the Indie Awards "Newcomer of the Year" prize in January 2024 and the prestigious Teosto award in April 2024. Their new album "Neko-A-Sekai" was released in October 2025 and received five stars from Helsingin Sanomat's Harri Römpötti.

Lead vocalist and composer Jenni Kinnunen blends the dancing power of flamenco, the Spanish traditions of classical guitar, a love of Japanese culture from Studio Ghibli animations, and musical passion spanning Beatles, Black Sabbath, Jay Reatard, and Grimes - alongside a spiritual kinship with Khruangbin's psychedelic funk aesthetic.

The Silmien Takana club explores the work of compelling artists through a rotating theme: performers craft a setlist that reflects the evening's theme, and promoter Mika Niemi interviews them. In Niemi's words: "I'm more interested in what drives artists to pick up the pen and the perspective from which each artist views the world than in songwriting technique itself. So my interviews reach toward that intersection where the songwriter, the creative process, and the finished song meet. Sometimes I stumble badly, sometimes we manage to capture something essential - much like life itself."

The venue is accessible: there is an accessible toilet, but no separate wheelchair platform. Companions enter free. The event is open to all ages.
