Lauri-Matti Parppei's debut film Somewhere There Is a Light That Does Not Go Out is a heartfelt love letter to his hometown Rauma. The film had its world premiere in the ACID section of the Cannes Film Festival and won seven Jussi Awards, including best film, directing and screenplay (Lauri-Matti Parppei), best lead role (Samuel Kujala) and best breakthrough performance (Anna Rosaliina Kauno).

Pauli (Samuel Kujala), a professional flautist who has experienced a breakdown, returns to his childhood home in Rauma and meets his old schoolmate Iiris (Anna Rosaliina Kauno), who persuades him to create strange music that nobody knew they wanted to hear. Once striving for perfection, Pauli begins to find solace in peculiar sounds and an unconventional friendship.

Film historian FT Harri Kilpi will introduce the audience to the film's themes in a lecture from 5-5:45 pm. The free screening begins at 6 pm. You can attend the lecture, the film screening, or both.
