Writer Jaakko Aarniala, author of the novel Helsingejoen lapset, visits Töölö Library. The event is open to everyone interested in Helsinki's history and historical fiction.

Helsingejoen lapset is a novel set in the Helsinki region during the Middle Ages, with teenage siblings as main characters. The book depicts the uprising of Uusimaa men in autumn 1495 and the phases of the Battle of Vatikivi, which are connected to the siege of Viborg, the "Great Russian War," and the event known as the Viborg explosion.

Aarniala himself notes: "Life in the late 1400s was more nuanced than one might think, thanks to trade, and in a curious way, names from that era echo the present: Töölö, Huopalahti, Viikki, Konala..."

The novel can be purchased at the event with the author's signature for 20 €. Free admission.
