Hilland Playboys, Jakob & Minna

Hilland Playboys perform at Pensselitehdas on Saturday 12.9. The evening opens with Porvoo's own bluegrass duo Jakob & Minna.

Hilland Playboys is a Helsinki-based country band led by musicians Pauli Halme and Antti Vuorenmaa. They have run the Hilland Mondays club at restaurant Juttutupa in Helsinki's Hakaniemi district for 12 years. The band's repertoire spans 1930s and 1940s western swing, bluegrass, 1950s honky tonk, and outlaw country.

Jakob & Minna is an acoustic vocal and guitar duo featuring songwriter Jakob Frankenhaeuser and singer Minna Kare. Their music draws on American roots music - centred on vocal harmonies, acoustic guitars, and the stories behind the songs. Jakob's band Jake and Rambling Blade released their debut album True Love (2024), produced by Jussi Jaakonaho, featuring guest appearances from Michael Daves (USA) and Nicky Mehta (The Wailin' Jennys, Canada).
