Flame Jazz: Kannaste4

Saxophonist Jussi Kannaste is one of Finland's most respected jazz musicians. In spring 2025, he finally released his first album as a bandleader - after more than two decades of performing. "Out Of Self and Into Others", released on We Jazz Records, moves between modern jazz, free expression, and melodic sensibility. The compositions are built on delicate nuances and interaction between the musicians.

The album title refers to turning one's gaze from oneself toward others - a concept that also shapes the live performance: the compositions allow space for individual expression, yet their power emerges from shared communication. Kannaste is known from ensembles including Antti Lötjönen Quintet East, Jaska Lukkarinen Trio, and Ricky-Tick Big Band, and he also serves as head of the jazz department at the Sibelius Academy.
