SYRJÄSEUTU-VILIMIT Sat 26.9. 2026 1 PM, Kino Kuvakukko, Kuopio: THE THING FROM ANOTHER WORLD

The Syrjäseutu-Vilimit film festival takes place in Kuopio 24.-27.9.2026. The event is organized by the regional film centre ISAK rf, with Kino Kuvakukko, Vuorikatu 27 (330-seat hall) as the main venue.

On Saturday 26.9. at 1 PM, Christian Nybyn and Howard Hawks' THE THING FROM ANOTHER WORLD - SE TOISESTA MAAILMASTA (sci-fi/horror, USA 1951) will be screened. The film is based on John W. Campbell Jr's 1938 novella Who Goes There?. The screening is from 35 mm film. In English. K16. 88 min. Tickets 10 €.

John Carpenter's splatter version The Thing (1982) is better known today, but this original 1951 film adaptation offers an equally intense survival struggle and is considered the source for countless alien invasion stories.
